Ravenclaw Tower Statue Side

Description

Finally finished the rest of the Ravenclaw common room that I've been working on! Here it is!

In case you haven't seen it, the first part of this concept art, with the fireplace and entrance in perspective, can be seen here: [link]

So this is the rest of it. :)

As it is with the previous parts, I've kept everything absolutely canon. By this, I first and foremost mean that Ravenclaw colours are supposed to be blue and bronze, not silver. There's a glass cupboard close to the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw (as was seen the time when Luna and Harry were hiding under the Invisibility Cloak in the Deathly Hallows). There's the diadem on Rowena's head. And apparently, her statue, which is on a raised plinth, is supposed to show her as beautiful but intimidating. At least Harry thought so, but he's a Gryffindor.

I'm not quite sure about the doors/doorways to the dorm rooms, though. If I had only read this chapter, without the common knowledge that distinct entrances are supposed to lead to the separate girls' and boys' dorm rooms, I would probably have understood that there is only one door. A door behind which lots of footsteps could be heard when the students flocked down from their rooms after Luna stunned Alecto Carrow before the students actually appeared... But it might have just meant a doorway and the footsteps were heard from above, so... And I mean maybe the dormitories are only separated in the Gryffindor tower, or they don't happen to be separated (or not right at the stairs) in the Ravenclaw Tower.

Either way: this is how I've had it in mind.

I'm pretty sure we have these dapper coffee trolleys scattered around the room. With coffee available at all times. And vintage magazine racks and coat hangers, as seen in the previous drawing.

Just one more thing and I'll finish my over-enthusiastic, obsessive rambling: the raised platform area isn't canon, I know, but I think it's always been an essential part of my concept of the room, just based on the fact that Ravenclaws, by house values, produce the most students participating in art in any form and I mean Flitwick is the choir conductor! I'm convinced we do improptu performances in the common room every once in a while, be it a choir piece, a play, or whatever our exhibitionist housemates are involved in. Aestetically it'd also create a nice counter-pole to the matlepiece.

The technique is fine pen lineart coloured digitally.

Also: a hearty thank you to my boyfriend, from Gryffindor, for suggesting the gorgeous galaxy on the concave ceiling and a big shoutout to both my sister who just got sorted into Slytherin and her boyfriend, a fellow Ravenclaw! Welcome to Hogwarts!

For further questions, opinions, critiques or just as a place of outlet for fan discussion, feel free to comment! I always reply. Always.

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling does, obviously, bless her.

Tell me what you think!
